Choosing the Right Printing Process

Getting your decals, tags or other printed material looking great isn’t just a matter of good graphic design; it also involves choosing the right printing process to create just the right look and feel for your products. There are four types of printing processes – digital, offset, silkscreen, and flexographic – each with its own advantages and disadvantages.

Digital printing is quick, easy, versatile, and cheap, and it is employed for many materials. Offset printing works well for large volume prints, such as publications. Flexographic printing uses a rubber plate to print and is great for large volume projects printed on irregular surfaces. In silkscreen printing, a stenciled screen of silk or mesh is used to transpose an image on a surface. It’s ideal for t-shirts, fabric, and wood.
